Rick’s Writing: November 5, 2023

notes on the Bible

This Sunday, we celebrate All Saints Sunday. As the Body of Christ, we come together in the timeless love and community that God has given to His church. Together, we celebrate the eternal gift of life, for ourselves, friends, and loved ones. We recognize our grief, for we miss all those who have made up a part of our lives. Yet, we celebrate because we know that death no longer has the final say. We will be reunited in the love of God in Christ.

Each year at this time, we light a candle for those within the church who have died over the last twelve months, and a single candle for all our friends and loved ones who have gone before us and joined what we call the church triumphant.

It’s really about the power of God’s love, as we remember Christ came to us, redeemed us, and offered us resurrection. Together, as a congregation, we recall how the love of God is unbreakable, and we celebrate this eternal bond as a community of believers, children of God.

Remember, love never ends. Time and space have no hold on the love which pours forth from God. The love of our Lord has no equal in creation, it is the power that transcends heaven and earth, no human activity can stand between ourselves, our loved ones, and the great love of God.

Come, join us, and let us celebrate life together.

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
