Jon Reeves
Our senior pastor is Rev. Jon Reeves. He and his wife, Amber, have three children, Jovie, Landry, and Gemma. While Jon has spent the last 20 years in local church ministry, Amber has been along for every step of the way, often helping many hours a week with the church while also holding down a teaching career. Their family is proud to call First Methodist Bridgeport their home.
“The most powerful force in my life is the saving love of Jesus Christ. Without Him, I’m nothing, and I’m grateful for the chance to serve His Church. I love what I get to do as a pastor. I get to smile and laugh a lot, and I also have the privilege of sharing life’s toughest moments with people. But most importantly, I get to talk to people about Jesus. Life can’t get any better than that.”
Pastor Jon comes to First Methodist from White’s Chapel in Southlake, where he served from 2015 to 2016 as a Path 1 Church Planting Resident, and from July 2020 to January 2026 as Pastor of Men’s Ministry. From 2016 to 2020, he planted and pastored The Oaks in Hudson Oaks, where Amber also served as worship leader.
Jon was raised in the little town of Cabot, AR, where he grew up with a love for the outdoors. After graduating from Cabot High School, he packed up and moved to Texas for college, where he met and married Amber, a Duncan, OK, native. After graduating from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (B.S., Church Ministries, 2004), he attended seminary at Brite Divinity School at TCU (Master of Theological Studies, 2008; Master of Theology, 2011), where his main focus of research was in New Testament and Early Christian Literature. In June 2017, he was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, and in 2022, transferred his ordination to the Methodist Collegiate Church.
