Rick’s Righting: June 11, 2021

From the Pastor

For those who remember the British Comedy “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” you may remember a reoccurring phrase, “and now for something completely different.” It was funny at the time, I don’t know why, it was a pretty strange sense of humor.

Today, I often hear words and phrases through eyes and ears changed by Christ. “And now for something completely different” is a phrase that I see, hear, coming out of the Gospels. And while there is nothing funny in the Gospel, the changing of a person from the inside or spirit outward is peculiar thinking for human beings. We are naturally deeply ingrained in the thoughts of our culture, experiences and self-centered perspective. According to the Apostle Paul: “we no longer know Christ in a human view” which also changes how we see ourselves and others. Only God can do this for us. And for those who still resist the call of our creator, it is an odd if not funny way of understanding life.

Join this Sunday as we look for something completely different in our lives and world.

May God’s grace and peace be with you!
