January 8, 2016: Message from the Pastor

Christmas EvePastor’s Message

Rewind

My Christmas Moment this year: During “The Light Before Christmas” when grandmotherly Delma Brookshire was reading the part about the angels rejoicing. Did I mention that Miss Delma was wearing a halo?

Or… Baby Vivian and family playing the part of Jesus and the Holy Family on Christmas Eve during communion.

While we are past Christmas, the holy moments linger. And, we hold onto them in the midst of crisis. All around us, people are suffering because of our complicated North Texas weather. Sister churches in Rowlett and Garland are on-site with help and caring in the midst of the hurt and destruction from the December 26, 2015 tornadoes. Let us pray for them and let us give to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) which is already alive and active in these Northeast Dallas areas. Giving is a good way to continue the celebration and hope we shared at Christmas.

Fast Forward

I believe Worship is the most important thing we do. On the first two Sundays of 2016 (January 3, 2016 and January 10, 2016) I will share some of my hopes and dreams – some New Year’s goals. I hope to see you in Worship!
