Seder Meal 2017Seder Meal

Wednesday, April 12, 2017
5:30 p.m.

The students of FUMC Bridgeport invite the congregation to a traditional Seder Meal in the Fellowship Hall.

What is a Seder Meal?
It is a ritual meal served on the first night of Passover, commemorating the flight of the Jews from Egypt. Presided over by the head of the family, the Seder follows a liturgy, the Haggadah that reminds participants of the story of the Exodus. The ritual includes blessings, the pouring of wine (juice), and includes unleavened bread and butter herbs – with the bread symbolizing the haste with which the Israelites left Egypt and the herbs symbolizing the bitterness of slavery. Because the meal is about experience and taste and not being a full meal, we will include extra items to ensure all are fed.

Why celebrate this meal?
It is important to experience the meal that Jesus himself celebrated and to see the connection to our sacrament of Holy Communion. Please bring your whole family and come experience this special night!
