My First Sunday AND My First Feeding Event

Church, I can’t begin to express how grateful and excited I am to be your new pastor! I count this as a tremendous honor, privilege, and blessing — if those words can even get close to getting my meaning across. So before I say more… Thank you. Thank you all for being so committed to the mission and ongoing life of Jesus’ church here at First Methodist Bridgeport. Thank you for making me and my family feel so welcome. It only took one Sunday for us to feel truly at home, and I think that says a lot about you folks. 

Our first Sunday together made me and my family feel so welcomed and loved. Even though I tried hard to mess things up by missing my cues and getting the order of worship not so in order, I thought worship was delightful in spite of me! Jin, Sangsoo, and the choir did such an incredible job on the music! And I teared up when it came time to break bread together — both at the Lord’s Table for Communion, and after the service when everyone sat down to eat lunch together. What an honor to share those moments together!

But as we look back and reflect, I also want us to look ahead with hope. In particular, I want to highlight our church’s feeding event that will occur next Thursday, February 12, 2026. I can’t tell you how excited I am to go to my first one! I can’t wait to be part of this miracle of feeding the masses. If you’ve never volunteered to work this event, would you please consider my personal invitation to experience this together for the first time with me? If you’re afraid you won’t be able to help enough or know what to do, let me help settle that anxiety by saying that I’m sure I’ll mess up enough for both of us! And if the new preacher is walking around not knowing what to do, then NOBODY will notice if you don’t know either! What a perfect opportunity to learn together! In all seriousness, I do hope you’ll consider joining us if you have not already.

I fully believe that God is doing something special here in our midst. And I’m so grateful that I get to be part of it together with you.
